As of writing, the petition, which is on Change.org, has over 4,490,000 signatures and counting. The petition was started by a woman named Jeanne Larson, who states in the description, “Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”   Addressed to Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, the petition hit 4 million signatures three weeks ago and is continually gaining signatures. It is expected to hit the 5 million goal very soon. Once it reaches this goal, it “becomes one of the top signed on Change.org!”, as stated on the petition’s webpage. Warner Bros. Heard’s role in the upcoming Aquaman sequel has played a key role in the defamation trial. Heard testified that she had to work hard to retain her role in the second film, saying, “I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film.” Heard also recalled that director James Wan and star Jason Momoa lobbied to keep her in the Aquaman sequel. In Depp’s testimony, he claimed that he made a call to Warner Bros. that might’ve helped Heard get the role in the first Aquaman film.  Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom officially wrapped filming in January 2022, with Wan posting about the event on Instagram.  The movie is currently in post-production and is expected in theaters on March 17, 2023. Neither Warner Bros. nor DC Entertainment has responded to the petition as of this writing.  Next, see Twitter’s reactions to the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard verdict.
