Rumors were first reported of a sequel to The Holiday in early December. The Sun alleged that production would begin in 2023, filming would once again take place in the U.S. and U.K., and that the main quartet of stars had all signed back onboard. This started churning the rumor mills, beginning speculation about a sequel film happening.Unfortunately, the rumors were soon debunked by several notables of the original film. Nancy Meyers, who wrote, produced, and directed The Holiday, screenshotted one of the many tweeted articles about the sequel potential. “So many DM’s about this,” she wrote, “sorry but it’s not true.” Additionally, Kate Winslet responded to the rumors during an interview with People while promoting Avatar: The Way of Water. “I read something about that,” the Oscar winner said, “but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that.
