Unfortunately, it appears that Holt’s health deteriorated in the past couple of months, ultimately leading to her passing. During the early morning hours of Dec. 11, Cher posted on Twitter, “Mom is gone.” The news comes about three months after Cher shared the first update on her mother’s health. On Sept. 9, Cher tweeted, “Sorry I’ve Been Mia. Mom’s Been Sick Off & On.She Just Got Out Of Hosp. She Had Pneumonia. She’s Getting Better.” Holt was a singer, songwriter, model, and actress, appearing in a 1956 episode of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy. In her later years, she did a lot of projects with her daughter and grandson, Chaz Bono. Her last TV appearance was in 2014 when she was a guest judge with Bono for an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Cher has not shared any further information about her mother’s cause of death or upcoming memorial services. Many friends and fans wrote notes of comfort and support on the new Twitter post, with actress Marg Helgenberger, who starred in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and All Rise, replying, “Oh @cher I’m so very sorry to hear that your beloved mother has passed. My heart goes out to you. What a blessing to have had her in your life for as long as you did. May she rest in peace.” New York State senator Diane Savino also wrote, “So sorry, nothing prepares you for the loss of your mother. No matter when!” Andy Cohen commented a bunch of red heart emojis under the post, while The Vivienne, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. Season 1, said, “Sending so much love my dear. She had an amazing life, gave the world so much, she gave us you! Thinking of you and all your family today xxxxx.” Our hearts go out to Cher and her loved ones.
