“He was loved by his family so much. His family was with him throughout the entire time of his illness,” Tuggle’s son told Rolling Stone. “He was a lovely father. He gave me music in my life.” The Denver, Colorado, native originally joined Fleetwood Mac as part of Mick Fleetwood’s side project, The Zoo, and continued to perform with each of the members of the band even as they ventured off into solo projects, from 1997 through 2017. Even after the band’s multiple splits, Tuggle continued performing with Lindsey Buckingham, appearing on his tour in 2021. Due to health issues, the keyboardist was forced to leave before the tour’s end. Throughout his notable career, Tuggle also collaborated with the likes of Jimmy Page, Rick Springfield—who paid tribute with a Twitter post upon learning the news—Steppenwolf and several other well-known artists and bands. Tuggle was also a longtime member of the David Lee Roth Band, playing with the group from 1988 to 1994, before rejoining for a short stint in 1997. During his time with them, Tuggle co-wrote the group’s hit single “Just Like Paradise,” which remains Roth’s highest-charting original composition. The tune was the lead single from the rock star’s Skyscraper album, hitting No. 6 on the Hot 100 chart. Tuggle is survived by his two children, Matt and Michelle.
