In an interview with Access Hollywood, the 80-year-old family court judge said of Bieber, “He’s scared to death of me,” after she spoke publicly about the trouble he got into in his younger years. “There was a period of time before he grew up — when he was foolish, and doing foolish things. I must have said something about it, and then, I understood that he was paying the front door people to let them know when I was there, coming and going, so he wouldn’t have to bump into me,” she continued. Bieber wasn’t eager to run into the TV judge and worked hard to avoid her. In 2014, when the singer was 19 years old, he was arrested in Miami, Florida for drag racing and DUI and managed to avoid jail time with a plea deal. Around that time, Judge Judy spoke with CBS Los Angeles, via People, about Bieber, saying, “Being a celebrity is a gift. You could either treat it reverently or you could make a fool out of yourself. And he’s doing a very good job of making a fool out of himself.” Going on, she then said of the situation, “I think it’s sad. And nobody’s going to remember that he was a marginal singer. But they’re going to remember a young kid who had a chance to have it all and who is blowing it by acting like a fool.” In the present, at 28 years old, the “Peaches” singer is married to model Hailey Bieber and he appears to be focusing on new music.
