Showrunner Michael Patrick King spoke with Variety to discuss the return of the fan-favorite PR whiz character. Variety asked the burning question that everyone has been wondering, “will Samantha and Carrie still be texting?” King answered the question with a very cheerful “Yes!” Cattrall has said previously that she no longer wanted to portray Samantha Jones. The actress told The Guardian in 2019, “It was a blessing in so many ways but after the second movie I’d had enough.” The show features Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis as their characters navigate life around NYC in their 50s. King mentioned that And Just Like That Season 2 will start production in October 2022, with hopes to start streaming on HBO Max by summer 2023.
