Are there any new cast members for Outlander Season 7?

The role of William Ransom, Jamie Fraser’s illegitimate son, has been cast for season 7 of Outlander, and will be played by Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart, Starz has announced. We previously saw a young William on the series, but Vandervaart will play him as an adult. “We are happy to welcome Charles to the Fraser family for season 7 of Outlander, joining the cast with the other talented actors that bring our stories to life,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, writer and executive producer. “Scotland will again be our production home as the Frasers and MacKenzies try to make a home against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War. This season promises more adventure, time travel and emotional peril than any season before.” Executive producer Maril Davis adds, “The character of William Ransom is a wonderful role, and one fans have been eager to see. Finding someone with the talent and physicality to play Jamie’s son was a daunting task, but Charles’ charisma was evident during the audition process, and we are excited to see what he will bring to William’s multi layered journey.” William’s mother was Geneva Dunsany, who blackmailed Jamie into having sex with her on the eve of her marriage to the Earl of Ellesmere and she became pregnant. Both of William’s parents died the day he was born. His mother in childbirth and his father was killed by Jamie to protect the newborn.  William was raised by his stepfather, Lord John Grey (David Berry) and his mother’s sister, who became Lord John’s wife, Isobel Dunsany (Tanya Reynolds). William has no clue as to the truth of his parentage. As an officer in the British Army, William joins the cast as the Revolutionary War is getting underway. Also joining the cast for season 7 are Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips as her brother Dr. Denzell Hunter, who become integral in the lives of the Frasers as the Revolutionary War gets underway. “We’re excited to welcome Izzy and Joey to the Outlander family and can’t wait for fans to see how these two fantastic actors bring Rachel and Denzell to life,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, writer and executive producer. “Denzel has a real urge to join the Continental Army and serve as a surgeon because he believes that liberty is a gift from God. And so that then starts their journey as Rachel comes with me,” Phillips said. “She’s a big more conflicted though,” Meikle-Small said. “She just has to go. She’s like, “I have to go with him.”

What will happen in Outlander Season 7?

What happens in Season 7 will be based on the seventh novel in Gabaldon’s series of books, titled An Echo in the Bone. It’s open to speculation, though, as to which parts of that novel will actually be adapted in Season 7, considering that part of Season 5’s storyline drew from Gabaldon’s sixth book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. So it’s possible that Outlander Season 6 could likewise pull from another of Gabaldon’s  books. If Season 7 does trace the plotline of the seventh novel, then according to dianagabaldon.com, here are the Echo in the Bone storylines fans have to look forward to:

Are there any Outlander spoilers for Season 7?

There aren’t any Season 7 storyline spoilers just yet, but Balfe has revealed that—based on the two Season 7 scripts she received in late 2021—it’s going to a “tough” season to film. Their daughter Brianna, her husband Roger MacKenzie, and their two children, settled at Lallybroch in the 1970′s (finding their feet after their return from the past—but are unaware that that past is just about to leap out at them again); Lord John Grey and his stepson William (Jamie’s unacknowledged illegitimate son), are embroiled in the Revolution on the British side with William in the army and Lord John on the clandestine side of intelligence; and Jamie’s nephew Young Ian: his troubled love-life is about to take another sharp left turn.” “At 3.30 this morning when I was feeding my son, I got an email with the first two scripts and I started reading the first episode, then my eyes were getting crossed so I’ll have to look at that another time!” she told JoshHorowitz’s ‎Happy Sad Confused podcast. “The first two eps are in my inbox so it’s exciting, we’re gearing up to get back on it. It’ll be a tough one, we’ll be shooting for a whole year. So, in the words of Dougal McKenzie, we’re going to gird our loins.” She also joked about how Heughan will handle Season 7’s yearlong shoot. “Sam’ll probably be on his seventh almanac at that point. He’s an Energizer bunny… I’m like, ‘Where do you get your energy from, and please send some this way!’”

Where was Outlander Season 7 filmed?

Outlander is filmed in Scotland, which doubles for North Carolina.

How many episodes will there be in Outlander Season 7?

Season 7 will consist of 16 episodes to make up for the fact that Season 6 was shortened to eight episodes due to COVID-19 and Balfe’s pregnancy.

Will there be a Season 8 of Outlander?

Season 8 has yet to be announced by Starz, but when it renewed the series for Season 7, it sounded as if they were in it until they run out of books by Gabaldon. “Starz is committed to investing in unapologetic, bold premium storytelling that amplifies diverse voices and shines a spotlight on women in front of and behind the camera through our #TakeTheLead initiative,” Christina Davis, President of Original Programming for Starz, said in a statement. “The hit series Outlander embodies everything about our initiative including a powerful female lead character and an amazing team of storytellers. We look forward to following the adventures of Claire and Jamie in America during the Revolution as well as more time travel during this next season.” Also, executive producer Maril Davis said at a TCA panel for the series, “We’ll keep making this until Claire and Jamie are 100. Honestly, we will. There’s still many more books to go. And if Starz and Sony are willing, we’re willing, and if the actors are willing, we’ll keep going.” However, in January 2021, Balfe hinted to Vanity Fairthat she might like going out with Season 7. “We will have hit the almost 10-year mark by the end of that [season], which feels like a nice kind of time frame,” she explained before adding, “But we don’t know. Those decisions are far above my pay grade.”

Where can I watch and stream Outlander Season 7 on TV and online?

What happened in Outlander Season 6?

Season 6 is based on Gabaldon’s sixth novel A Breath of Snow and Ashes. When it opened, the Frasers were overcoming the traumas from Season 5: Claire’s kidnap and sexual assault, Brianna’s abduction by Stephen Bonnet, Roger’s being hung and almost dying, Jamie’s brush with death after being bitten by a poisonous snake, and the death of his godfather Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) at the Battle of Alamance. The Christie Family arrived at Fraser’s Ridge and that caused problems for Jamie and Claire, especially Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds), who accused Jamie of fathering her unborn child. Then, when Malva was found dead, Claire was arrested for her murder. “Outlander does baddies and villains quite well,” Balfe said in an interview with EW. “[The Christies] aren’t your typical villains, which is great and refreshing. Claire and Malva build a great relationship and bond. It’s very destabilizing for Claire. It’s a really heartbreaking, but a really twisted narrative that they all get embroiled in.” Also in Season 6,  Marsali (Lauren Lyle) and Fergus (César Domboy) had a tumultuous time, because Marsali gave birth to a son with dwarfism, and the superstitions of the time cause problems with their neighbors. “Marsali and Fergus have always been this fun, romantic couple – young, cool – like the ones that make people laugh and are just really in love with each other and have all these kids,” Lyle told Radio Times. “And this time, it just got really deep and really dark… They’re at their most tested.” Then she added, “It’s the first time you see her having to step up, and she’s sort of supporting the family and dealing with her own needs.” For more, here is the description as released by Starz: Next, Sam Heughan Just Shared a New Outlander Pic! Plus, What Caitriona Balfe Said About Season 6, the Premiere Date and New Opening Credits Revealed! “Against this backdrop, which heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a home together at Fraser’s Ridge. They must now defend this home—established on land granted to them by the Crown—not only from external forces, but also from the increasing strife and conflict in the community within their care. “For the Frasers and their immediate family, “home” is more than simply a site in which they live, it is the place where they are laying the foundations for the rest of their lives. If Season 4 asked “What is home?” and Season 5 asked, “What are you willing to do to protect your home?” then Season 6 explores what happens when there is disharmony and division among the inhabitants of the home you’ve created: when you become an outsider, or an ‘outlander,’ so to speak, marginalized and rejected in your own home.”
