McCartney shared that the two had known each other for several decades; according to The Wrap, Eastman and his father, Lee, had both worked as McCartney’s lawyers through the breakup of The Beatles and throughout his solo career, in addition to being his brother and father-in-law. “My dear brother-in-law, John Eastman, has passed away. Having known each other for over 50 years it is an extremely sad time for me, and our families,” the ex-Beatle shared on August 11, 2022, calling Eastman “a great man” and “one of the nicest and smartest people” he had the pleasure of knowing. Beyond helping McCartney with his business dealings, Eastman was “hard to beat” as a friend. “His sense of humour always shone through in everything he did,” McCartney continued, “and his devotion to his family was supreme.” The “Maybe I’m Amazed” singer detailed his brother-in-law’s ability to vacillate between the fun times and buckling down to be serious, calling him “unbeatable.” “There is so much more that can be said of his incredible qualities, but words can hardly describe his passion for life and our affection for this amazing man,” McCartney added. “He will be sorely missed but always held dear in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him.” He signed off the touching note with, “See ya Johnny! Love Paul,” and hundreds of supportive comments flooded in, sending the singer their love. Per The Wrap, Eastman passed at age 83, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. More News:
