Pooch Perfect, the dog grooming competition series, premieres on March 30 on ABC. Hosted by Wilson, 10 of the nation’s most talented dog groomers and their assistants, compete in a series of creative and, as the show describes, “paw-some themed” challenges. Each week during Pooch Perfect, the teams face off in epic grooming transformations, which they get to show off in a special dog walk. Celebrity judges Lisa Vanderpump, Jorge Bendersky and Dr. Callie Harris vote on the out-of-this-world creations and ultimately force one team back to the doghouse every week. The top three teams compete for a $100,000 prize and “Pooch Perfect” first place trophy. The diverse challenges range from transforming the pup into a favorite season to making them into a fairy. “Our groomers are not only great with dogs and with general standard grooming, they’re also very artistic. And they create these masterpieces using only the dog as their canvas,” Wilson tells ABC. “Not only are there dogs galore in this show. It’s a show about some amazing human beings.” As Wilson explains, the contestants have very inspiring stories. “I’ve fallen just as much in love with them as I have with all the really cute dogs on the show,” she shares. “You have funniness, a lot of heart and very cute pooches.” There is also the joy of being along for the dog walk with Wilson. She does choreograph dances, or what she calls “dogography” with her dog squad (aka the production assistants dressed in dog costumes.). “Rebel Wilson is as tireless as she is talented. She put her heart and soul into making sure that this show was of the absolute highest quality,” says Pooch Perfect executive producer Elan Gale. In fact, Wilson has quite the dog pedigree. Her family has a history of grooming and showing dogs. “As a fourth-generation dog shower, she brought her extensive experience and knowledge to the competition, all the while keeping the contestants in good spirits and laughing pretty much all day long!” adds Gale. What makes the competition special are the contestants. There’s a mother and son team who demonstrate unconditional love. A pair of fiancés support each other’s dreams. There are mentors and mentees who show what it means to elevate those around you. “Of course, the overwhelming theme of the show is friendship,” says Gale. “Friendship between humans, and friendship between us and our better halves: dogs.” In the midst of all that is happening, Pooch Perfect offers a great diversion. “If there’s one thing that we all need right now it’s an uplifting, optimistic, awe-inspiring competition show featuring the biggest stars on earth: adorable dogs,” says Gale. “Pooch Perfect peers into the world of creative dog grooming, a world that has entertained thousands and thousands of avid fans all over the globe for decades. But now, we get to see it up close and personal.” Get to know Pooch Perfect as we unleash all the details on the show.

Each week, the groomers will compete in two challenges. The first one, the “Immunity Puppertunity” will grant a team immunity.
