Magnolia Network/Discovery The Gaineses showed off their own property in the midst of renovations in a preview for their Fixer Upper: Welcome Home reboot on their Magnolia Network series. Get to know their beloved white home!
Where is Chip and Joanna Gaines’ house?
The Magnolia founders’ farmhouse is located in Waco, Texas, where they film Fixer Upper: Welcome Home.
Joanna Gaines’ kitchen is a work in progress!
The Gaines’ kitchen was once all white with white subway tile, wood floors, metal open shelves and stainless steel appliances. However, the kitchen is one of the parts of the home that they’re making changes to, so expect some surprises coming from the Magnolia Table host’s surroundings.
When did Chip and Joanna Gaines buy their farmhouse?
The Gaineses’ purchased their farmhouse in 2012 and made significant repairs and renovations to it at the time on the first season of Fixer Upper. The farmhouse was first built in 1895.
They are added on to the farmhouse as we speak
“A couple months back, Jojo wanted to ‘add on’ to the farmhouse,” Chip said in home video footage. “And of course I, like an idiot, agreed, but now look what she’s gotten us into!” Joanna showed that they repainted their white kitchen cabinets a deep teal green and opened up one of the walls in their main living space that they’re expanding. She explained of the move from her formerly all-white cooking area (prominently featured on her cooking series, Magnolia Table), “I just wanted the space to really evolve with the new addition and I just thought it was time for a change.” The couple previously revealed that as their family grew with the addition of fifth son Crew, now 2, their home needed to grow with them to provide adequate space. Of course, all of that growth comes with some growing pains, too. “So this has turned into an actual nightmare situation,” Joanna joked, pointing to a door covered by a plastic sheet. “Crew’s room is right here. So Crew no longer sleeps in this room.” Of course, it wouldn’t be a Joanna Gaines home without some shiplap. She showed off one wall that had some white painted shiplap alongside plain wood shiplap, noting, “We’ve scabbed in all the old shiplap so that it looks really nice. Now this is open. This used to be a window, and now you can see into the room.” Panning the area, including a living room that was essentially serving as a storage space, Joanna said that the family of seven was “basically living upstairs” in their beloved home, but that they were also in the home stretch of renovations. “They’re putting the floors in today. We left all the beams,” she said, pointing to their signature ceiling style. Talking to Chip directly, she added, “Floors, plaster and then lighting and we’re done, babe!”
Would Chip and Joanna Gaines ever sell their farmhouse?
Probably not, Joanna says, but never say never! “You never know with Chip, but we definitely feel like this is our forever home,” Joanna previously told Country Living. “The kids love it. We can’t imagine being anywhere else!” That’s likely why instead of buying a newer, bigger property, they’re adding to this one.
