In a statement, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that Woods, who was the driver and sole occupant of the car, was “extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’” by firefighters and paramedics. Later in a press conference, it was stated that the jaws of life were not used, but rather an ax. The dad of two was then transported to a hospital by ambulance for his injuries. “Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” the golfer’s agent Mark Steinberg said via ESPN. “He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.” According to CNN, the professional golfer suffered “moderate to critical injuries after being pulled from his car.” Wood’s vehicle is said to have “sustained major damage.” Law enforcement sources told theLos Angeles Times that “Woods was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle before crossing the center divider” and that his “SUV rolled multiple times before coming to a halt.” Following news of his accident, Woods’ ex Lindsey Vonn tweeted, “Praying for TW right now,” adding the praying emoji. Per CNN, Los Angeles County spokesperson Henry Narvez said that another vehicle, which was not involved in the rollover accident, stopped after the crash and was rear-ended. In a statement shared with Parade.com, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said, “We have been made aware of Tiger Woods’ car accident today. We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery.
