If you need a hint for today’s Wordle solution, know that DIYers, Bob Vila and HGTV viewers may have an easier time filling in any gaps between their letters on this puzzle. If you’re gunning for more clues, keep reading. Mixing up our usual Wordle starting word, we opted for “PLAYS” today, utilizing the L and A and eliminating S and Y. (We’re not too enthused about the P, but whatever, it’s narrowed down out of the running, so it still helps.) We knew that A and L were in the puzzle, but in the wrong place. Next, we put L and A in the very beginning and opted for “LANCE,” mostly as a means of potentially common letters N, E, and C. This put A in the correct placement, but we still had to shuffle a few others around and determine what the remaining letters were. Because A was the second letter in the puzzle, that actually narrowed down a lot of our potential options quite a bit. We knew we couldn’t do “CLA”-starting words because the A placement, and we also knew quickly that few other vowels would make sense in this particular combination of letters. Placing the C as the first letter and A as the second, we knew O was likely out of the question, and I didn’t fit well in terms of words that also contained the letter L, leaving U to be the only potential second vowel in the puzzle. Following some flashbacks to our recent home renovations, we shot our shot: CAULK. Success in three tries!
