After the 22-year-old singer from Washington state, Jaeden Luke, took the stage and began singing a popular ’70s ballad–“Make It With You” by Bread–he earned praise from two of the show’s coaches. As soon as she heard the tune play out, Gwen Stefani, 53, admitted to Cabello (and the camera) that this was one of her favorite songs and later said that she “loved this guy” and that she was “devastated” that she couldn’t press the button because her team was already full. Cabello, 25, was also clearly a fan of the voice she heard coming from the stage, but since her team had already been filled, she too was out of the running–but that didn’t stop her from frantically slamming her hand on the button to turn around for a “peak.” Cabello also told fellow coaches, John Legend, 43, and Blake Shelton, 46, that they “are crazy if [they] don’t turn around” and save Luke from elimination, to which Legend replied: “Just let us listen.” As the moments passed, Luke’s voice only drew more attention from the coaches. First, Shelton turned around, followed by Legend, who was also interested in adding Luke to his team. After the two coaches turned around and the gig was up, it was time for the big reveal for the rest of The Voice cast of judges. “I am so mad that my team is full, because your voice is so special,” Cabello said, adding “My first thought was, ‘I’m gonna steal this guy!’” Cabello continued: “Gwen should steal you first — and if she can’t, I’ll save you, baby,” she said to Luke with a smirk. “Thanks for saying ‘baby.’ I might have been singing it for you,” Jaeden revealed. “Wow, Jaeden, you’re making my whole day…You’re so cute and talented, and I like your style,” Cabello flirted back while twirling her hair. “Oh my God, oh my God, what is happening?” questioned Stefani. “He is swiping right, right now,” joked Blake, who later commented on Luke’s style, “One thing that we haven’t talked about yet is that badass mullet that you just drug up on the stage, man.” “That’s hot, yeah!” Cabello added. “And just as much as I love your voice, I love your direction as an artist in that music,” Blake continued, “Gwen’s not kidding: We listen to Bread all the time. I have one spot left on my team, and you could be the person who completes me.” The praise from the loving spouses was apparently enough to win Luke over, as he eventually chose to side with Shelton over Legend. The Voice airs from 8-10 p.m. ET Mondays and 8-9 p.m. ET Tuesday nights via NBC. More News:
