Filming protocols are still in effect, so Parade.com checked with Lifetime on the status of the film as a possibility for the 2021 holiday season, and was told that a Betty White Christmas movie “is not part of this year’s slate,” but the network volunteered no additional information as to the reason. White, who turns 100 in January, said in an interview with People: “I am blessed with good health, so turning 99 is no different than turning 98,” but that doesn’t mean that America’s sweetheart should risk her health by returning to work when there are breakthrough cases of COVID reported even with people who are vaccinated. And, of course, seniors are at greater risk for serious symptoms. The film, in which White’s character was supposed to “help whip would-be Santas into shape, spreading the true meaning of Christmas,” while her skill at bringing comfort and joy leads people to wonder if she’s actually Mrs. Claus, is not listed on her imdb page. In fact, there isn’t a new acting credit for White since 2019. Even though White won’t be a part of the “It’s A Wonderful Lifetime” Christmas lineup, there will be no shortage of stars in Christmas movies, including Reba McEntire, Kelly Rowland, Melissa Joan Hart, Mario Lopez, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman, as well as the return of The Brady Bunch actors Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland and Susan Olsen.
